Make a splash and share your vision!
Enter the Watershed Watch Earth Day Poster Challenge to share your creative vision for clean waterways in Santa Clara Valley. Winners from each grade bracket will receive cash prizes: $250 for first place and $150 for second place! Winning artwork will be featured in future social media promotions to help reduce water pollution prevention.
ENTER BY March 17, 2025.
Choose one of the following questions to respond to in your artwork:
- How can YOU prevent water pollution? Take a look at the Watershed Watch website for inspiration.
- What do YOU love about your local waterways (creeks, rivers, lakes)?
Entries will be judged and awarded in three brackets:
- K – 2nd grade
- 3rd – 5th grade
- 6th – 8th grade
Artwork will be judged on the following criteria:
- Originality
- Clarity
- Expression of Theme
How to Enter
- For art entries not created digitally, scan your artwork at 300 dpi or take a photo of the art on a flat surface or wall with good lighting and no shadow, camera directly in front of it (not at an angle)
- Save the image to your computer as a PDF
- Name the PDF following this convention: FirstnameLastnameCityGrade. For example: JaneDoeSanJose4.pdf
- Complete the entry form
- Attach your correctly named PDF document
- Submit

Contest Guidelines
- Must be a K–8th grade student residing within Santa Clara County.
- There are three categories for awards (K-2, 3-5, and 6-8). Entries must respond to this year’s themes.
- Winners (first and second place) will be selected in each of the grade categories.
- All posters must be the sole work of the entrant. No hands other than the student’s own should be involved in the creation of artwork and it must not plagiarize existing art.
- Artwork must be no larger than 12″ x 18″. Larger entries will not be judged. Acceptable art media are paint, pencil, markers, ink, crayon, chalk or pastel, collage, and digital art. Three-dimensional pieces and photography are not eligible.
- Posters must be submitted in PDF format. There is a file size limit of 5 MB when uploading.
- Entries must be uploaded by 5pm PST, March 17, 2025.
- All artists agree that submitted posters are allowed to be shared on the Watershed Watch, SCVURPPP and Permittee websites, social media or otherwise displayed in public to promote pollution prevention programs.
- All judges’ decisions are final.
- Winners will be announced on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.
